Welcome to Tides Pilates! We're excited to meet you. Here's everything you need to know to make your first visit comfortable and enjoyable.
Your first session begins with a brief assessment where we'll discuss your goals, any injuries or limitations, and your movement history. This helps us tailor your practice to your unique needs. From there, we'll guide you through foundational Pilates exercises, introducing you to the equipment and core principles of the method.
Sessions typically last 55 minutes. We focus on quality of movement over quantity — expect focused, deliberate work that challenges both body and mind.
Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. We recommend fitted tops and leggings or fitted pants — loose clothing can get caught in the equipment. Grip socks are recommended but not required; we have pairs available for purchase at the studio. Please avoid jewelry and strong fragrances.
Tides Pilates is located at 1433 11th Street, Suite F, Arcata, CA 95521. Street parking is available on 11th Street and surrounding blocks. The studio entrance is on the ground floor — look for the Tides Pilates sign. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first visit to complete any intake paperwork.
Stay hydrated throughout the day before your session. Eat a light meal or snack at least an hour before your appointment — you'll be moving and inverting, so a full stomach isn't ideal. If you have any medical conditions, recent injuries, or are pregnant, please let us know before your session so we can modify exercises appropriately.
